The year 2020 was like
no other! Its many challenges taught us innovative ways of delivering
instruction and intervention therapies. We learned that possibility can
turn into appropriate practice and that students can succeed in improving
their reading and writing abilities with experts who are always
experimenting with the nuances of video conferencing. One new expert in
literacy learning who has joined the team at The Reading Room is Dr.
Katherine Casey Spengler. Dr. Spengler received her Ph.D. from the joint
doctoral program at San Diego State University and Claremont Graduate
University and is certified in the Orton-Gillingham Approach intended for
use with students struggling with phonological processing which results in
poor spelling and word recognition that ultimately affects comprehension

Dr. Spengler and I are
currently giving parents the option of in-person learning or video
conferencing, or a mixture of both. We look forward to providing your
